Budapest, May 15, 2021 - The Magyar Nemzeti Bank "XVI. UEFA will issue silver commemorative coins with a denomination of HUF 10,000 and a non-ferrous metal with a nominal value of HUF 2,000 under the title "European Football Championship" one month before the first European Championship match to be held in Budapest. The commemorative coins were designed by industrial artist Áron Bohus. In June 2021, the most important event of European football and UEFA (European Football Association), the European Football Championship, UEFA EURO2020, will be held for the 16th time, which will be an exceptional event in many ways. For the first time in the history of the European Championship, which began in 1960, 11 European cities, including Budapest, will host the matches, thereby emphasizing European unity and cooperation. Out of the 11 host venues, 7 cities and 6 countries have never hosted a European Championship match before. Budapest will make its debut as host city on June 15. The XVI. Puskás Aréna is the co-venue of the UEFA European Football Championship in Hungary, where the teams will play three group matches and one round of 16. The Hungarian national team, which qualified for the European Championship for the second time in a row, will play two group matches at home in front of a home crowd. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, UEFA postponed the continental competition, originally planned for the 60th anniversary of the first European Championship, to 2021, an unprecedented event in the history of the European Championships. The MNB "XVI. With the name "UEFA European Football Championship", it will issue a silver commemorative coin with a face value of HUF 10,000 and a non-ferrous metal version with a face value of HUF 2,000 one month before the first European Championship match to be held in Budapest. The silver and non-ferrous metal versions are issued with the same coin image, they differ only in their denomination. The commemorative coins were designed by the industrial artist Áron Bohus, and their image is dominated by the Hungarian aspects of the European Championship.
