Wonderful, probably Bhutan, copper betel lime box profusely decorated, unusual shape and form, a superb example.

These type of boxes were used to hold a chewing mixture known locally as chunam comprising of betel leaves and lime mixed with areca nut and then chewed, this was claimed to have a mild aphrodisiac effect.

Good antique condition, small discrete holes better visible from inside the box, hinge is slightly loose and detached on one side, general signs of wear expected, opens and closes well, powder remnants inside box possibly of betel lime, please refer to detailed photos provided as they form part of item's description.

The box is approximately 11cm in diameter, 9cm tall and weighs 125g.

Happy to answer any questions and provide additional photos if required.
