Gorgeous antique purse, marked “G Silver” Embossed frame, kissing clasp and beaded fringe.

Approximately 4.5x5 inches

German silver is a base metal alloy consisting of nickel, copper and zinc. The name was coined because the metal is silvery in color and polishes to a shine, mimicking sterling. The body of this purse shows the mesh to be linked in a horizontal pattern before the bottom fringe. All of the mesh appears to be in extra fine condition, no holes or detached links that I have found. The mesh is unlined and secure at the hinges, all about the frame It is in splendid bright condition with only remnants of tarnish here and there, primarily in the deeper crevices of the frame.

The bottom of this purse maintains all of its original little metal beads. The frame is a work of art, it is very heavily embossed It's a very sturdy frame, opens and closes with a solid snap and is perfectly aligned.

The bag has not been cleaned nor polished and is in very good condition for a bag of this age.
