This very nice HO gauge train pack by Lima is 10 9712 G an Italian FS ETR.401 in silver and blue livery. 

The FS ETR.401 electric train (ETR = Electric Rapid Train ) was the first rapid train to enter service in the world with a tilting mechanism.

The ETR.401 is the result of an advanced engineering project, jointly conducted by FIAT Division of Railway Material and FS , developed to allow the increase of the maximum operating speed on pre-existing twisting railway lines without major investments to modify the route. The pendolino tilting solution was seen as an interesting possibility because it allowed the tortuous sections to be traveled at higher speeds than those permitted by traditional rolling stock but in complete safety.

 ETR.401 should have been the first example of the FS ETR.400 class of electric trains, but, despite its innovative characteristics and good performance in tests, no further examples were ordered by FS. The single example was underused on secondary lines rather than the main lines it was designed for. The same fate befell the twin UT-443 made for the Spanish railways. The trains technology did eventually evolve in the the mid-eighties into the ETR.450 series.

The ETR.401 survived and has undergone restoration to operational condition and as such this train could be used on a modern layout as well as a period one.

The train is in good condition as you can see in the pictures, it is fully tested and runs with working lights. It comes complete with its box. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition. 

Overall this is a really nice scale train pack and would look fantastic on a layout.
