This beautiful tapestry portrays The Holy Family and was crafted in the early Victorian era. The rectangular piece measures 14.75" in length and 17.75" in height, making it a small yet exquisite addition to any wall as a piece of art, or if you wish to remove it from the frame and finish it out as a pillow. I believe the piece is done with wool and silk material. With the intricate petit point technique, this piece showcases amazing skilled craftsmanship from the 1800-1849 time period with different size stitches with different color and kinds of yarn to give texture and depth. Truly amazing.

This particular piece was done by Anne –Dean, age 12 years in 1848. She shows an astounding amount of skill for her 12 years. Look close to see the skill.

And of course, pictures don’t do it justice. I took some during the day and some at night. The darker ones are evening pictures.

This piece shows a bit of wear, it has most recently been framed and the frame did not cover the entire textile so they have attempted to disguise the raw edge of the piece with upholstery fringe.? Definitely could use a different, better frame job. There is a bit of deterioration on the left side and perhaps an area here and there of damage, but truly nothing detrimental to the beauty of this primitive Victorian textile. It is on the raw edge that the provenance is displayed, difficult to see because of the frame, but it has been noted on the back as well.

It is an extremely unique and stunning piece for any antique collector or admirer of Victorian art, particularly art depicting religious themes. Don't miss out on the chance to own this original item, a one of a kind piece. Please let me know if you want more pictures or other information! Thanks.
