Hanging scroll with hand-painted painting in black ink on silk. Three crows are sitting on the snow covered branches of a tree while more snow is falling. In the upper left a two-line inscription (poem?). The sky is painted gray, the snowflakes are indicated by leaving spots unpainted in the gray of the sky.

 

Dated and signed with seals to the left of the inscription. Ansei 4 = 1857. Signature not read. Style of Yosa Buson

Many cracks and missing spots in the silk. Each backed with thin strips of paper, but discolored. All in all mediocre condition, but still a beautiful painting. One scroll end with damage.
