This medallion enclosed in an ornate Rococo style shadow box features relief images of goddesses, infants, Gothic spires surmounted by crosses. The central figure appears to be a regal person of authority and learning; she is seated on a throne holding a liber (book). The backdrop suggests religious iconography. The cast images are exceptionally done with depth and precision: every aspect of the diorama is distinct and vivid: e.g., the expression of the faces, the folds of the garments. The base is 11" wide; the opening that is  covered with glass is 7;  the medallion is 5" measured from outside. The box is at least 2" thick from base to front; the item weighs 3 lbs 12 oz.
Materials used in the item are not fully determined especially the medium used in the medallion. The main frame appear to be plaster or gesso.
