For auction is a bronze desk set item made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is a large inkwell and it is done in Tiffany's Studios most sought after Craftsman Brown patina. This Inkwell is part of the highly collected Tiffany Studios desk set pattern known as "Chinese". The inkwell is quite large as it stands 4 1/2" tall and is 6 3/8" in diameter. You can see how large this inkwell really is when I use a can a soup to give it size comparison.

This large inkwell has a octagon (8 sided) shape and displays the most desirable Craftsman Brown patina that is simply outstanding! This is a real collectors choice in the Arts & Crafts style decor and one of the most sought after and most popular patinas in the Tiffany Desk set patterns. This pattern is similar to the American Indian pattern by Tiffany Studios as it shows its strong arts and crafts influence. There are 2 sizes of inkwells in this pattern and this the largest that is not commonly found. It displays geometric designs that were probably influenced from the Bronze Age. This inkwell still retains its original stepped reservoir. This Inkwell is quite heavy as it is solid bronze with a glass insert and feels solid when picked up.

The Inkwell is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no major dents or dings. The clear ink reservoir is also in very good condition. The main issue is a moot one. When the clear insert is removed and you look in the area it sits, you can see ink stains and wear to the finish. This cannot be seen when the clear inkwell is in place and thus the reason for it being moot. The inkwell appears to have been well taken care of in its lifetime. One one side you can see a little copper peeking through but nothing too obtrusive. The inkwell is signed on the bottom with "Tiffany Studios New York" impressed mark along with the pattern number 1753 for the largest inkwell shape.

Tiffany started using a 3 digit number for his fancy desk set goods after 1902, subsequently this has a 4 digit number and I would say this piece was made circa 1907-1915. This is a quality item in the Tiffany desk set Chinese desk set pattern. The piece has the one of the nicest Craftsman Brown patina on any Chinese desk set I have ever offered to the public. This patina is about as good as it gets and I'm quite sure the buyer will be no be disappointed with their purchase.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for.

They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.

If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
