Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an early rare Presto Brand D-7 model crystal microphone based on the same Astatic D-2 model crystal mic from the late 1930's that comes with it's original lower F-11 mount / adapter and a period Darling model microphone desk stand. This beautiful combo will make a very nice display or  prop piece just about anywhere it sits.

The D-2 variant (D-7) model was kind of the smaller earlier version of the very popular D-104 which was made from the 1940's until present. You can see the obvious differences in design though there are some similarities. The D-2 is slimmer and a bit more elegant in nature. Much softer lines that the D-104 model.

Pic # 2 shows this very model along with a few other older obscure Astatic mics of that time.

I don't know anything about the Presto company and have nothing to go on. Like so many American companies of that time that either went out of business during The great Depression or were simply bought up by bigger manufacturers.

The D-2 / D-7 has a polished chrome body and as you can see this one is in very nice shape being free of any heavy scratches, dents or corrosion. The front and rear screen is perfect as is the pop filter underneath them both. The lower adapter looks just as nice as does the Astatic badge. Made in New York, NY.

The lower F-11 adapter allows you to screw the mic onto any desk or floor stand though the stand is provided. The cable is original but just 10 inches long and has a vintage male 1/4 inch connector. The F-11 shows lite wear in the form of scratches but otherwise quite nice.

This crystal mic has been tested and as to be expected of a mic this age, no longer works.   The element is still present inside the housing however. The mic itself is a true 8 on a scale of 1 - 10.

This D-2 variant comes with the rare Darling brand mic stand that is an all metal design with a quality chrome finish. The stand is ideal for smaller to medium sized microphones and makes a very stable platform for this smaller Lollipop design microphone. Darling (much like Presto) was a very obscure American brand so you rarely ever come across these and this one is in very good overall shape considering it's age. It appears to be a 1930's model. The stand thread itself has the 5/8 X 27 universal thread and any mic or mic clip will technically mate to the top of it.

This stand has a built in on / off toggle switch that is not properly wired of course but could be again at some point in time.

This particular stand has typical lite wear as you can see. The base has scuffs and scratches but free of any pitting or dents. The 5 inch stem / riser shows more wear but not too bad. There are 4 original rubber pads on the bottom to keep it from scratching any surface it rests on.   Please let the detailed pictures be your guide.

Mic with stand is appx 11 inches tall X 4 inches wide.

This old, early Astatic variant mic with stand will draw attention anywhere it's displayed and will only increase in value as the years go by due to it's rarity and condition.
