You are looking at a rare and very desirable Shure Super 55-BLK "limited edition" model with the flat ebony black finish and dark grey foam screens. This limited edition microphone was only made and sold for a short time before being discontinued and was based on the common Super 55 with the satin chrome finish and blue foam screens still being sold today. This mic only comes with  it's original mic pouch, manual and mic case. All original accessories included.

 This 55-BLK has a much more ominous aura to it than the more elegant Super 55 version with it's beautiful chrome finish. It should be noted that any blemishes seen on this mic is simply dust. It was hard to keep all the dust particles off the finish. This mic is in mint condition and the stock painted finish is perfect.

 This mic is very similar to the Shure 55-BCR as they both had the same flat black finish except that the 55-BCR came with red foam screens. The BCR model is used by James Hetfield (lead singer of Metallica) as seen in pic # 2. You could technically remove the dark grey foam screens and replace them with the red screens but this mic will still technically be a 55-BLK.

 The Super 55 is the newest generation in the 55 lineage going back to the 1940's. The 55 has made a few changes along the way both in design and the element used within. The original 55 "Fatboy" was a revolutionary dynamic cardioid and was the first ever developed. It became an instant success and the sound quality was superb. In 1950 the 55 became the 55S and was about half the size of the original. The newer Super 55 uses a completely different (and superior) element but still retains the classic look of the earlier 55S model.

 The tone on this mic and uni-directional pattern is just incredible. The looks are seen more stunning. That black on red combo is very aggressive and yet beautiful at the same time. These 55-BCR models are getting hard to find and again, the finish on this example is just as nice as you could ask. 

 It should be noted right away that I checked the inner element. It's an authentic, 100% original element. This is not a cheap replica or counterfeit mic.

 As seen in the pictures provided this mic shows virtually no cosmetic wear. No scuff marks dents or scratches. The mic has zero bent or fractured ribs and the red foam screens show no discoloration, rips or holes. The Shure label looks excellent as well. Overall this mic is a very conservative 9 +++ on a scale of 1 - 10. This mic is solid...no loose parts inside or out.

 The threads for the stand are excellent and the joint mechanism holds strong. The XLR pins on the mic are clean as a whistle ensuring a perfect signal.

 The black vinyl mic pouch is included in this sale and a great place to store the mic as it protects the finish and is slightly padded. The zipper on the pouch works perfectly and the pouch shows very lite wear.

 The manual has a ton of technical info on this mic and will come in handy. There are some other smaller items included like the warranty card and what not.

 You'll just need a standard XLR cable to operate this mic and those are easy enough to find.

 If you use a female XLR to male 1/4 inch cable you'll get a bit less bass and a dirtier tone to the mic. If you want a cleaner sound with a bit more bass use a female XLR to male XLR cable on your audio equipment. Just a heads up.

 This mic will continue to rise in vale and is a great investment in a microphone. It's a no brainer. If you want what everyone desires to own the 55-blk will do the trick. This mic will move quick. 

 The few 55-BCR's I have come across generally show more signs of wear.
