Gunnera manicata seeds, giant rhubarb


Gunnera manicata is a plant with immense leaves several meters wide. It is a plant from Brazil that grows in humid areas such as the edges of ponds or lakes. It is widely used as an ornamental plant and does not usually tolerate frost.

They should be sown directly in a seedbed with a planting blanket and substrate or any other sandy mixture. The planting area must be bright-warm but not in full sun, the substrate must be kept moist, transplant the plants when they have several pairs of leaves to their final place in full sun. It takes weeks or several months to be born, the wait can be somewhat exasperating.
