This antique Victorian Dressing Set presents an exquisite piece of history, originating from the United Kingdom in the late 19th century. The box features a stunning multi-color brown design, made with high-quality, exotic coromandel wood. The intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident in the fine details of the jars, lids, and accessories included in the box. This original piece is perfect for antique collectors or those who appreciate the unique style of the Victorian era. The maker is unknown, adding an air of mystery to the item's history. The age of the box falls between 1850-1899, making it a rare find. This antique dressing box would be a fantastic addition to any collection and a great conversation starter.  The Set measures 11 inches long, 8 3/8 wide, and 6 5/8 inches.  It weighs 10 pounds, 2 ounces

The Set is in wonderful antique condition.  The photos provide a clear description.  You will note it contains a full set of virtually intact original glass jars, some with their original tiny stoppers (note: one jar has a repaired top.)   The elegant silver plate lids are all present plus there is one lid made of sterling silver with proof marks.  (We have no information on where it came from.) Two of the original mother of pearl handled personal accessories are present, plus a number of antique bone handled personal implements found with it, are also included.  The brass stringing and pencil edging are intact, as are the key escutcheon and name plate on the lid.  The coromandel veneers are all present but do have a drying crack on the top which is typical.  There is a lower drawer compartment which opens with a secret button latch at the back of the box.  The lid has a latching leather flap intended for holding letters and notes. The lock says, "Secure lock" but no key was found with it.  A non-working replacement key and fob are included.  (A skilled locksmith could likely fabricate a working key.)

We have seen dressing sets with a similar design. This one has no signage that provides information on its maker, its one time seller, or its previous owner/s.  It is so unusual to find one this complete and in such good condition.  The velvet and silk linings are intact and in good condition.  The silk lining the lower drawer has some spotting from some spilled substance, perfume possibly.  The fabric on the bottom appears original with expected wear.  We invite your close inspection of the photos and any questions.  We also invite your offer.  Shipping will be at no charge within the U.S. at the listed price.
