ABOUT THIS BOX

Crafted in Switzerland by Reuge, this box features beautiful inlaid-wood and smartly-contrasting trim. The beauty and sophistication are complemented by an equally beautiful and rare tune.

Lift the lid to reveal a highly desired, world-class Reuge 3/72 movement. The movement is clean and shiny and it looks great. The mechanism winds up smoothly and the sound quality is EXCELLENT thanks to the heavy, well-constructed box. It switches between the songs effortlessly. The music starts and stops (at song end) via the front slider button. The original Reuge tune label is found on the inside.

This music box plays “18th variation on a theme of Paganini” (3 parts) by S. Rachmaninov. The tune is critically acclaimed and you may recognize it from the movie “Somewhere In Time.”

CONDITION

The box is in good condition. It is structurally perfect. The finish has surface scratches, light wear, and edge dings commensurate with its age. There is a spot in the lid where the finish is not smooth. I have included some close up pics of the issues. Please see the pictures for the issues and for the beauty of this piece.

The musical movement was inspected and properly lubricated for years of use. The mechanism has one tarnish spot on the cylinder but is clean and shiny. The sound is very rich and beautiful. There are NO resonance issues (buzzes/chirps) that can occur in vintage boxes. Please see the video to hear this spectacular box!

SHIPPING

The box measures 8-1/4” x 4-1/2" x 2-3/4".

The box will be expertly packed and will ship via priority mail.
