Millard Sheets Book, Signed Limited Edition - with Original Lithograph, 1935

Contains one original lithograph, which is pencil signed -- and 28 photographic reproductions. Besides the signature on the lithograph, signed separately by Sheets with dedication to J. Lind.  Frontispiece portrait of Sheets is by Edward Weston.

Millard Owen Sheets (1907 – 1989) was an American artist, one of the earliest of the California Scene Painting artists; he helped define that movement.  Besides his paintings, he made many large mosaics for buildings in Southern California, which still exist.  Many of the works shown in the book have California themes. He won many awards in his day and his works are held in collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, the Whitney and LACMA.  Hardcover, in original jacket i8.5x11 inches, 28 pages of text plus 28 plates and several pages showing his credits. Book is very good, jacket is good plus, with some toning and small chips and one small closed tear. Not price clipped.
