This listing is for (1) Wood pestle which can be used for a potato masher, a dough tamper etc., or just enjoyed as an antique.

It is 11.75" long and 2 5/8" diameter at the widest part. It is made out of a solid piece of wood (possibly maple) and hand turned on a wood lathe. It is very smooth and nicely turned and the bottom is very smooth. It has wonderful PATINA as you can see in my pictures!

I was made by my grandfather who was a dentist in Cleveland and just as passionate about woodworking as he was dentistry! Everything he made or hand carved was precisely done and finished and this is no exception.

My grandfather was born in the 1870's so I would estimate this piece to have been made sometime in the early 1900's.

We're preparing to significantly downsize to a much smaller home and I just won't have the room for all my lovely things which is why I am listing it. I truly want it to go to someone who will appreciate it the fine craftsmanship of it.

I have taken pictures of all sides of it on two different backgrounds so you can see the coloration of the wood which is beautiful. (You may think I am taking pictures of the same side but I am actually turning it a 1/4 turn so you can see all sides of it. )Please look at my pictures as they are part of the description and feel free to ask questions.

As an aside, all wood products benefit from a mineral oil "facial" from time to time so they retain their beautiful wood finish. Mineral oil is a food safe oil and easily found.

Thanks for looking!
