The item for sale is a Lemur Music Pernambuco wood German-style Bass Bow 4/4 size.

Brazil wood or Pernambuco is an exotic hardwood that is a burnt reddish-orange color. Brazil was named after this wood due to the resemblance of the vivid orange and burnt red colors of the wood to the soil of Brazil. Pernambuco is prized for stringed instrument bows due to its stiffness and ability to take a high, glass like surface polish. Scientific name, Caesalpinia echinata, this hardwood is also be called Ibirapitanga, Tupi, or Chakte Viga.

The item is unmarked, but the shipping tube is labeled “Lemur Music”.

I compared the specimen in my possession with the photographs and descriptions from their online catalogue and have spoken with them on the phone and shared photos by email. They are confident this is one of their bows.

The bow in my possession appears unused, or at most very lightly used. I am assessing its condition as “new-open box”

Included is a container of Pop’s Bass Rosin—a $15 value.

The first photograph is from the Lemur Music current online catalogue. This photo differs from my specimen in that it has a nickel silver ring on the ebony tuning button that my sample does not.

The sample in my possession has a maximum length tip to tip of 30 inches.
