This listing is for 150 x Common Juniper tree seeds (juniperus communis)

The Common Juniper is an evergreen Shrub growing up to 9m (29ft) by 4m (13ft) at a slow rate. In good growing conditions, it can grow up to 28 cm per year. The individual flowers are either male or female, but only one sex is to be found on any one plant so both male and female plants must be grown if seed is required and are pollinated by wind. The plant is not self-fertile.

It is in flower from May to June, and most seeds ripen in the Autumn although they can often be seen throughout the year.

It is very hardy and is not frost tender. Very tolerant of a wide range of soils from sandy, light to heavy clay including nutritionally poor soils and can grow in very acid and very alkaline soils and everything in between almost anything providing that it is not waterlogged. It can cope with drought and maritime exposure and can grow in semi shade or an open, sunny position.

Because of its dense cover of prickly needles, juniper provides a good nesting site for birds such as the goldcrest and the song thrush.

Germination, sowing and aftercare instructions go out with every order.
