One night the court astronomer reads in the stars that the princess will marry a modest soldier. Meanwhile, in fact, a soldier meets a witch who loads him with gold in exchange for a flint that he has to get back for her: since the old woman doesn't tell him what the flint that he got her is for, he kills her and leaves. He goes with money and steel. In the city he squanders everything and finds himself poor again. But by rubbing the steel by chance he magically obtains riches and the fulfillment of every wish, including the princess.
