This sale is for a vintage Azimuth Circle in the original wooden box. The front of the box has the original tag which is marked "TYPE 712A AZIMUTH CIRCLE MADE BY THE LIONEL CORPORATION NEW YORK NY USA". During WWI Lionel, the train manufacturer,  was enlisted to help make items for the war effort. The original paper tag on the top of the box is marked "PLEASE KEEP THIS CIRCLE IN BOX WHEN NOT IN USE. CAPT. J.T. PETERS  KINDLY REPORT ANY INATTENTION TO THE CAPTAIN."  The device itself is marked "E.S. RITCHIE & SONS INC BROOKLINE MASS 3075  MADE FOR SPERRY GYROSCOPE COMPANY BROOKLYN NY".  The box is in good condition with some chipping on the edges.  The device has some tarnish and some scratches from years of use.  The mirror on the device is somewhat cloudy and the tall dark glass piece has a slight crack in the center.
