1.    Serrated (see photo) - provides secure locking on the blade and pulley shaft. Few, if any of our competitors sell serrated product.  Hex serrated flange product features teeth on the bearing face of the flange. This feature creates the locking action needed when fastening steel-to-steel components.

 

2.       Grade 8 hardness – most competitors sell ungraded product, OEM is usually grade 2 or 5 hardness.   If a hex nut is not marked with hardness markings, you have no idea what strength or hardness you are getting. Look for two lines 60 degrees apart on the top flange for grade 8. We think that is important and we pay extra for it.

 

3.    Yellow zinc – superior corrosion resistance – Black or silver coating, not so much.
