A high quality contact printing frame designed for alternative photography such as cyanotype, platinum, palladium, gum bichromate, Van Dyke Brown, Kallitype, carbon &c. The frame is made from 39mm x 32mm red meranti hardwood. Each mitred corners is strengthened with a hardwood spline. The split back is made from 1/2 inch hardwood ply covered with 3mm neoprene to protect your negatives and paper. The heavy duty springs are made from 30mm wide 2mm thick aluminium. The two doors on the back are joined with a piano hinge. The hinged back on our frames allows you to see how the exposure is progressing without misaligning the negative and coated paper. The external part of the frame is finished with 3 coats of Danish oil giving a soft waterproof satin finish.

Bespoke contact printing frames with heavy duty springs are recommended for alternative photography. Flatness is the key to sharp images. A picture frame just won't do! Picture frames often cause soft spots in the centre of the print as it doesn't provide hard even pressure over the whole image area. Even worse is a picture frame with acrylic 'glass'! Additionally picture frame corners are very weak. 

The maximum image area of this frame is 294mm x 241mm (11.5" x 9.5") and the maximum paper size is 309mm x 256mm (12" x 10"). The frames outer dimensions are 360mm x 307 (14.2" x 12")

Note this is a handmade product and may have some cosmetic flaws. This will not affect use. 3mm glass is supplied with this frame but is NOT covered during shipping incase of breakage!
