Prince The Black Album 1988 Vinyl LP Erotic City Records NOIR-69

Prince

The Black Album

Unofficial Release

The original album intended to be released on 8 December 1987 was canceled on Prince's request just one week prior to release.

The decision was influenced by Prince having experienced a spiritual epiphany and became convinced it

was "evil" after having a bad experience on MDMA

Prince recalled all copies and abandoned the entire project, leaving roughly 100 European promotional copies in circulation, and several American copies that would be widely bootlegged in the coming years

Immediately after the decision to pull The Black Album from stores, etc. the album emerged on the streets in bootleg form, arguably becoming popular music's most legendary bootleg

Pressed in 1988, this French bootleg is the second most common fake of the 1988 issue of the Black AIbum.

The sleeve is black and rather shiny when looking at it sideways, a picture of Prince's face appears.

Some copies have an oval sticker on the front reading "Prince Black Album' in purple.

The label contains white italic writing.

Sides are dubbed Noir-69-A and B
