This is a Colour Photo Pictorial Book, with 350 photographs from the World of Banger Racing.
This is the third publication by Jerry Fisher featuring Banger Racing in the UK. His first book ’50 Years of Crashing’ documented the history of the sport. Whilst his second book ‘Diaries of Destruction’ tracked his adventures for three years around the various circuits. This latest publication is a photo only special, with 350 photographs including a descriptive caption of text, explaining each picture.
The majority of the photographs displayed here were taken at Jerry’s local circuit of Ringwood Raceway in Hampshire. This was at the time when Jerry spent more than a decade there, as the official photographer. It was during the 1980’s and early 90’s. These years were known by many, as the Golden Years of Banger racing at the raceway.
The Ringwood oval circuit, steeped in motor sport history since the 1950’s, was at its peak during the time of these photographs. It was the glory days of Unlimited cc Banger racing. It was the period when notorious Banger racing teams such as: the Suicide Squad, Brighton Bashers, Warlords, Ant Hill Mob, Three Litre and the Levellers, all made regular trips to the circuit to commence battle.
As well as photographs from the Golden Years at Ringwood Raceway, this publication also includes Banger racing photos taken in more recent times. With a few, from other popular oval racing tracks, including: Aldershot Raceway, Standlake Arena, Warton, and Ringwood Cheetahs, as well as an interesting Banger racing circuit in Derbyshire, called Rebels Raceway.
If you are a Banger racing driver, or fan, or just curious about this exciting sport, this is the book for you. Perhaps you will view this photograph collection and reminisce with happy memories, or perhaps just view them to experience the Golden Years of Banger racing.
