What is cream of tartar?

Cream of tartar is a white powder often used in bath bombs to help create a better fizz.

Cream of tartar is also known as potassium bitartrate or potassium hydrogen tartrate, and it is an acidic byproduct of fermenting grapes into wine. Cream of tartar is made by combining tartaric acid with potassium hydroxide. 

What can I use cream of tartar for?

• Cream of tartar is often used in bath bombs to harden them. This helps the bath bombs keep its shape when put in water
• Because of its fine texture, it smooths out the mixture, giving the bath bombs a smoother and silky texture.

• When adding cream of tartar to bath bombs along with citric acid, the bath bombs will fizz more and make more bubbles.
