Magnificent Japanese Edo Period (first part 19th century) wood lacquered writing box with fine floral and other gold lacquer decorations done with maki-e and hiromaki-e techniques elements on a shiny lacquer; the interior of the box depicts an amazing gold scene of a carriage.

There are several sections in the interior, an original ink stone and a removable silver water dropper.
