Engine details; Due to lack of power the engine went to Zodiac motors for a bit of an upgrade. Rather than try to modify the 1503 engine, the bigger capacity1703cc unit that debuted in the 1956 version was fitted-after all, you just cant beat cubic inches. A204E Mk11 block was used for easy fitment into the Mk1, but this was fitted with Mk111(211E) internals, along with a four-branch manifold and a bigger carb. The power output is unknown but, at an estimate, its probably somewhere in the region of 75 bhp.
At the same time the head(from a Mk111) was ported and polished, converted to run on unleaded and the inlet manifold was modified to run a 28/36 DCD carb-which, as you know, came from a Cortina1500 GT. a Borg Warner overdrive was fitted along with stronger halfshafts and a 4.1 differential.A heavy-duty clutch, front struts with new shocks and seven-leaf rear springs were also added along with poly bushes all round. A supurb tribute car.
