Cotton 4.5 Wale Washed Corduroy Fabric

Corduroy is a crinkled and sturdy fabric that textile manufacturers use in making different kinds of items including clothing. One of the most striking features of the fabric is its ridges, these ridges are referred to as wales and run vertically down the fabric. This means that the lower the number of wales, the thicker the ridges are. Conversely, high wale numbers mean that the corduroy will have more and finer ridges.

• QUALITY: Corduroy is a durable, ridged fabric that textile producers can make with a variety of different materials. This fabric is most notable for its unique ridged pattern. Hence it is made of 100% cotton material, it is a natural material and doesn’t rash on the body. Perfect for dressmaking.
• USAGE: This fabric is primarily used to make overalls (also known as dungarees), pants, and jackets. Outside the realm of apparel, furniture and accessory makers also use corduroy to make chair and couch coverings as well as decorative cushions.
• CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Corduroy can be washed at home if you turn them inside out to protect the textured side (nap) from matting down. Corduroy’s nap and material, 100% cotton, attracts lint. so be sure to wash them inside out. And, don’t wash your corduroy with any material that produces a lot of lint, like fleece, felt, or terry materials (sweaters, jackets, towels). Choose a gentle cycle and if your corduroy is dark, wash it in cold water. If it’s a pastel color, you can wash it in warm water.
