1966 Ampeg B-18N Portaflex Fliptop combo amp, made in Linden NJ. Dating is approximation based on the serial number. I personally love every Ampeg fliptop i've ever owned. (I have a decent collection) I've decided to once again part with a few. This is one has been gigged and used regularly. Serviced and suitable for a someone intending to continue to use it regularly as it should be. Features an upgraded speaker a wonderful and quite rare JBL 151 18" Speaker. Its been fully inspected and is in great shape. No coil rub or issues operationally. You may notice it has a piece of duct tape on the magnet. This is to protect the transformers from hitting it while its flipped inside. The speaker sounds superb, really allows for robust low end to shine. This amp has all vintage tubes. A pair of Vintage GE 6SL7, Ampeg/Sylvania 7199 and a British made 5AR4 (Mullard?) rectifier. Power tubes are newer ruby 6L6GC. This amplifier can run 7027A or 6L6GC interchangeably without any real advantage either way in my opinion. 6L6GC were chosen due to easier availability. Bias was checked and set properly. Light up AMPEG logo works too. Just given a good once over to ensure it operates safely and reliably. The main power supply filters capacitors and negative bias supply filter capacitors were replaced with the highest quality components available and true to original values. A grounded 3 prong AC cable was also installed for safety. Other than that all other components on the board and transformers are original. All the original resistors were checked for drift. Pots and jacks cleaned. Still has schematic sheet under chassis which is cool. Includes trolley which is in pretty rough shape but its still solid. Amp has very honest cosmetic wear for a 50+ year old that has been properly used to its potential. The tolex on the bottom of the cabinet is mostly gone. It looks rough but trust me its solid. These cabinets are build strong. There's nothing worse than a rattling bass cabinet so I always make sure there are no rattles or anything loose that may cause issues. The amp itself has a very low noise floor as it should. Here's a super rare amp at an excellent price, complete with a premium vintage speaker, trolley and vintage tubes making it a fantastic value. These B18s are also harder to come by than its cousin the B-15N as not as many were made. Can ship to any US or worldwide address. I know how to safely pack and ship an Ampeg fliptop amplifier. It takes great care and I have done it successfully many times both domestic and internationally.  Will pack like a tank and make sure it arrive safely but local pickup strongly encouraged where possible. Save $$$. Reasonable offers considered. Please ask any questions you may have.
