Notes: A tall vintage hand-carved timber mould for a concrete baluster, made from a very heavy and richly-coloured hardwood, presented as a decorative free-standing Objet Trouvé sculpture with a custom steel base with a distressed aesthetic and a protective wax finish. It dates to the 1950s, or thereabouts, and was made in Mumbai, India.

To bring the timber to life, it has had a few applications of pure tung oil and a final polish with wax.

Condition Report: Being an old industrial object, the timber shows obvious signs of wear and tear that add to, rather than detract from, its appeal.
