• Overview: This is an outstanding Vintage Original Pencil-Signed Etching, "L'Oiseau de Bourges," by well-known British printmaker Malcolm Osborne (1880-1963). Osborne studied with Frank Short at the Royal College of Art where he eventually succeeded him as the Head of the Engraving School in 1924. Osborne was a full member of the Royal Academy and the president of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. Osborne's work is in countless major collections worldwide and impressions of this print are in the collections of Harvard Museum, San Francisco Fine Arts Museums, the University of Michigan, Georgetown University, and the Spencer Museum.

This print was offered by the Printmakers Society of California and presented to Associate Members of the Society in 1932. The print is hand-signed lower right and signed and dated in the plate lower left. Original documentation included on the back. We have had it beautifully matted in an acid-free faux velvet cloth mat and framed in a black and silver-toned molding. We have set it under acrylic for safety in shipping, but we recommend adding UV acrylic or glass to give it a higher level of protection from fading.
