The composition by James Carter compel us to re-examine the familiar. His carefully orchestrated subjects are fascinating voyages into the interior of a questioning consciousness. Formally trained at the Art Institute of Maryland, he was introduced to airbrush work as a vehicle to achieve the translucent surface he wished to create. Using drafting techniques while utilizing a stage set environment, he juxtaposes inanimate objects with land and sea wildlife as subjects of a surreal composition. James Carter has won numerous accolades including awards and honors since 1978. His work has been exhibited widely with one man shows in Washington D.C., New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles. His work is included in major corporate and municiple collections including Christian Dior, Yale University and the Bruce Museum in Greenwich Connecticut.

This work is one of four subjects comprising the “Toy Maker Suite”
