This unique "ugly face" jug is a one-of-a-kind piece of folk art pottery. Titled "Booger" #1 and created by potter and artist Joseph "Joe" Foster. Joe was a member of the Pottery Guild in Raleigh, NC. Born in 1944 and died in 2015.

This jug features vivid 3-D like details, with larg green eyes eyebrows and an extended tongue. It is signed  "Booger" #1 and J Foster on the bottom. Also included is the original tag from Jake's Pottery in Seagrove, NC signed by Joe Foster.  Seagrove is considered "The handmade pottery capital of the United States"

The glossy finish adds to the charm of this vintage item, which was handcrafted in the United States in the 1980s. With one compartment and a 6-inch diameter, this jug is perfect for collectors of unique and unusual folk art. 

Face jugswere often used to mark graves for enslaved people, as they were not allowed gravestones. Ugly faces were characteristic so as to scare the devil away.
