Japanese Shikishi Art Painting Nihonga Water Chestnut

Item Description: This is a beautiful Shikishi artboard painting from Japan.  This kanji features a painting of a water chestnut. The text on this Shikishi is very famous words by Fukuzawa Yukichi who is a founder of Keio University. This sentence means people are equal.  Shikishi is the hard paper with gold trimming. Shikishi became more popular during the Showa Era because of changing Japanese lifestyles and living spaces.  Compared with a hanging scroll or Kakejiku, a Shikishi art is smaller so it can be used to decorate all types of places. The Shikishi art can be displayed anywhere in your home to give a distinct accent.
