Up for auction is a 1910-1920 El Belmont Cigar Box.  This box still has the paper insert graphic card and that is how I know what cigars were inside.  This was a "Compliments of the Season" cigar box.  The front shows an angel with wings and a small green pine tree held up by her hand. There is a silver background and stars around her.

Inside the "Compliments of the Season" graphic is inexcellent condition.  The angel is not here (and not sure she ever was), but the silver background and stars are there.  Kept in a plastic bag inside the box is the paper graphic card.  It shows a man on one side of a wooden fence and a boy with suspenders and his leg up on the split rail wooden fence.  The caption underneath is, "Well! if those aint the finest leghorn chicks I ever saw."  There is a young girl with a basket of chicks in her apron standing there in a long dress and bonnet.  At the very bottom in small all caps is "REGISTRATION APPLIED FOR".

On the reverse side is another picture of the young girl, the other side of her.  The graphics state, "DON'T TALK SO DUM" BUT SMOKE The El-Belmont ..5c CIGAR".  This is just a fabulous collectible for someone.  I'm sure having this insert card is rare.

Moving to the bottom of the box, it has the CAUTION NOTICE, and Factory and District.  On the left side of the caution notice is a script "Colorado".  On the right side of the notice is another script stamp which I cannot read but last four letters of possible 8 letter word are "duro".  This was Factory No. 22 22th District Ohio (which I believe is Columbus, where I live).  The notice is incised (can feel it) and the factory stamp number at the top and "Factory No. 22 11th Dist O.25" under Caution Notice is even deeper incised.

If you have any questions, please ask before bidding!  Also can provide more pics.

THE BACKGROUND OF THIS MASSIVE COLLECTION:  Over the coming weeks, I will be listing quite a few pencil boxes/wooden boxes.  I would guess there is close to 200 of them. If this is your collecting passion, stay tuned!  All of these were my mother's (she is 87)... she recently remodeled her kitchen/living room which forced her to put away a lot of her collectibles while that was completed.  Now she is ready to let them go so you have the opportunity to purchase what she has collection over a period of 50 years.  I must admit, some of these are quite amazing to see.

USPS Ground advantage shipping will be actual cost to all United States destinations. I will combine shipping if you purchase more than one pencil box so please wait for an invoice.  Normal ship time is one day after receiving cleared payment. Thank you and Happy Shopping!

I do not accept returns on my auction items. My descriptions are very detailed which should give you all the information you need to make an informed decision whether you wish to buy my item or not. Of course I am always willing to work with you in the event of glass breakage or damage in transit as my items are insured. As always, please review my detailed pictures and ask any questions you have before placing a bid or purchasing. Thank you for your understanding!
