This time, the long-awaited acoustic guitar has been released from the Murphy Lab Collection.
The L-00, J-45, Southern Jumbo, SJ-200, and Hummingbird, acoustic guitars that are essential to the history and tradition of Gibson guitars, will be added to the ``Ultimate Vintage Reissue'' lineup.
Custom Shop Murphy Lab Acoustic Collection 1960 Hummingbird Light Aged
The Hummingbird was released in 1960 as Gibson's first square shoulder model. It was truly a debut at the dawn of a new era of music. It quickly became the favorite companion of the leading musicians of the music scene at the time.
Featuring a thermally aged Sitka spruce top, the 1960 Hummingbird's sound and finish are enough to evoke the look and performance of a musician who achieved iconic status at the time.
Light Acoustic Aging
It simulates the conditions in which it has been carefully played for 50 years, recreating a favorite guitar that has rarely left the user's home environment. In addition to pick scratches around the soundhole, light nicks, and rounded edges, there is a unique lacquer check pattern throughout. Combines VOS hardware with handroll fingerboard binding.
Murphy Lab Acoustic Collection
Murphy Lab Acoustics is a new division within the Gibson Montana factory that produces custom products. The products produced by Murphy Lab Acoustic have been developed using Tom Murphy's decades of vintage guitar research and knowledge as a starting point.
The paint is applied by dedicated Murphy Lab staff, and when applying the color, a different painting process is used than for the regular model group in order to reproduce the oxidized (aged) state of vintage guitars. The process is to reproduce the oxidized wood and the realistic burst applied to it.
Regarding the lacquer, Murphy lacquer is used, which is different from the lacquer used in regular Montana products. The Murphy lacquer used in Montana is formulated separately from the Murphy lacquer used in the Nashville Custom Shop. Murphy Lab Acoustics products use a lacquer that is harder than that used in regular products to create a natural weather check (lacquer check).
*Due to the nature of lacquer, which is prone to cracks and chips, natural weather checking may occur even after purchase depending on the usage environment. Since this product is based on the concept of reproducing a vintage guitar, there is no problem with the product and it is not covered by the official warranty. Thank you for your understanding.
Furthermore, the sound hole label has also been aged. Depending on the individual piece, the pick scratches unique to vintage acoustic guitars are also reproduced. The concept of Light Aged guitars is to recreate guitars that have been played well and treated with care.
The biggest appeal of Murphy Lab acoustic products is undoubtedly the sound. Murphy lacquer is hard and brittle, and because the coating is thin, the guitar itself is extremely sensitive to string vibrations. As a result, there is less noise dampening compared to the softer lacquered guitars, and a much wider dynamic range is achieved. Murphy Lab acoustic products provide guitar players with an exceptional playing experience, including feel, response to play, and richness of live sound.
