SUZANI:
Suzani ( Persian SUZAN = NEEDLE ) is one of the most attractive and beautiful products of Uzbekistan’s handi-craft culture. They are mostly large silk and cotton embroideries that are used to to decorate interiors of the houses . Suzanis were also an important part of a girl’s dowry.
Each region in Uzbekistan had their own design pool and style. Tashkent ones are far different from the Bukhara ones or Shahr-i Sabz ones. They embroidered them for different utilitarian purposes, as coverlets for the small law tables, as covers for the beddings stacked into the niches during the day etc.
