Formosa Strait. U.S., Chiang Forces Plan 1st War Game INVASION BEACH, FANGLIAO, FORMOSA (AP) America and Nationalist China put their first combined amphibious war game in motion Sunday night despite heightened peace hopes in the Formosa Strait. A joint naval maneuver force in battle formation steamed to ward this South Formosa beach nearly 200 miles southeast of Quemoy.

The task force will strike at dawn Monday with special demolition units, naval gunfire and low-sweeping airplanes, then send seven waves of Nationalist and U. S. marines storming ashore. The troops will be out to "de stroy" a mythical enemy dug in in strength and reinforced with tanks and special motorcycle reconnaissance units. The exercise involves only 8,000 to 10,000 troops and was planned long before the present crisis erupted.

But it has been widely accepted in Formosa as a demonstration of the firm U. S. military stand many feel precipitated Saturday's offer by Communist Chinese Premier Chou En-Lai to resume ambassadorial talks with the United States.
