This is a lot, of the first three Sonic Youth Records (SYR) releases all pressed both in colored and black vinyl at the time of release, and the first two came out in 1997 (May and September) and the 3rd came out in April 1998.

These three Sonic Youth12" releases which were part of the "Perspectives Musicales" series as "Muzikale Vergezichten." Both black and colored vinyl were billed as limited w/o speciific quantities disclosed nor are they numbered. The time of pressing was the same on the black of each one and colored prints. They planned to distribute the colors first, but a mistake was made and that didn't always happen due to some distribution mistakes, especially w/ the second release. There was to be a red translucent, blue tranlucent, and a clear, in addition to black. They also pressed some teal ones of the 2nd relase, and some are somewhat smoky looking ... I believe the 1st and 3rd play at 45 RPM, and the 2nd plays at 33 1/3... clairfying because you can't can't put both in some the ebay fields... As for what I haver here. I opened these three, but never played the vinyl. and the colors are clear, transparent blue, and black of the set I have. They are all in their factory shrink still, w/ record store stickers on the farctory seal, not the sleeves... and they are under a nother protective layer, and have been for about two score, 6,6,, and 5 qne years now... Feel free to ask any questions, I understand if my explanation was confusing, the execution of the preorders, etc... were, there were just boxes that went out before other boxes AND, I've seen the black ones called Reissues (as in some of the 97/98 ones... which simply isn't the case... they were first printings as well, and because of the distribution debacle, many of the blues the black ones were sent to the preorders, and, in some cases, like this copy of SYR1, I should have gotten a red translucent, as pre-order... they had some supply aftter the preorders, but I got a black... the 2nd one really was twhere tons were wrong. That's actually why I opened these, I knew couldn't in good conscience say these were the colored ones... I epxected to see the blue one black... but and something like 20% of each of the others being black... ended up w/ blue, clear and black... so that is what they buyer will receive, all the 97/98s are first edition, there's no number count on either... I think there are probably similar counts of the black and the colors, I've seen more colors than black (bought more than one set and a number of friends had them, not solely via preorder)

The individual album titles are as follows.

SYR1 is   Anagrama

SYR 2 is   Slaapkamers Met Slagroom

SYR 3  is   Invito Al Cielo  (Jim O'Rourke joins Sonic Youth on this third and final Sonic Youth entry into the project)

Final heads up, these pieces are way more avantgarde than Sonic Youth's typical albums. I think they are fantastic, but they are challenging. If you've heard Thurston Moore's more experimental work that he's done solo, w/ other ensembles, or w/ the NYC John Zorn as Grand Puba collective, or even Amherst and Boston improv rock / jazz, it's closer to some of those works than Sonic Youth's catalog at large. if you love that sort of thing and typical Sonic Youth, IMO, these are wonderful additions... but, these pieces aren't for everyone... just want disclose, and that was way easier than expaining the editions and colors, distribution, etc...,  ok, bid away or, if Buy it Now... and ty for making it this far ;)
