Vintage Huipil handwoven Guatamalan cotton textile top / ponch. Preowned vintage item in wonderful condition. Fabric is clean, strong, without any holes, stains, or tears. The fabric seam binding around the neck shows wear consistent with the age of the item. Beautiful item that has been well maintained. The cotton fabric used to bind the neck opening was a lighter thin grade of cotton fabric and so wears out sooner. Photos provided as part of the description.
I believe this was originally made for a child. Would be great wall art!
Wonderful vintage item! The colors are outstanding! The bright red, white, green and orange stripes are clear and so pretty. The sides of the garment are the selvedge edges of the fabric that are orange and green striped.
The center sections in the front and back are handwoven in a traditional Guatamalan design done in reds, pink, purple, green & white.
This fabric is homespun weave, thicker yarn with slight texturing and the occasional natural imperfection that comes from being handmade.
Measurements: 26" wide X 24 1/2" long. The neck opening is 14". Arm openings are 5" long, so 10" total. I believe this was made for a child.
