The guitar works, but it is being sold as a restoration project. It has some issues and has gone through a partial restoration or modification.
- Body has had original paint removed and prepared for refinishing. It looks like a stain was applied (but looks bad on the alder wood).
- Original single coil PU was replaced by a full-size Gibson humbucker (Patent No 2737842 black sticker),
- Pickguard altered for new humbucker,
- Headstock face plate is coming unglued at the edges and is curling up a bit,
- Tuner strip not original.
Produced for only 3 years from 1965 to 1967. This is first year of production and the sixth of the S-50 guitars built (the first being serial number SA-101) according to Guild's web site.
Few of these come up for sale, so it is very much worth restoring. Shipped in gig-bag.
Examine photos carefully and ask any questions. Returns not accepted. All sales final.
