A beautiful rare English sterling silver mounted string box. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1905 with the makers mark being HM. It has been beautifully made having a silver top and bottom and glass body so you can see how much string or thread remains and a small hole in the top through which it is drawn as requires.  It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean. You can see the old glue through the glass on the base but that's just the way it was made, this would be difficult to see with a ball of string inside. No chips or cracks to the glass. It measures 3.5 inches (9cms) tall, a touch less (8.2cms) wide at the base, and weighs 223 grams. A beautiful rare piece.
