This is a gorgeous antique book from 1669. The condition on it is not the greatest. It has some slight water damage. The binding is coming apart and it has some insect damage. Considering how old this is though it’s a miracle that it survived in any kind of shape. This came from the historic Filoli estate and the COA reads:

“This item was removed from the collection at Filoli Historic House and Garden. This is part of an ongoing effort to restore the House and its collection to its original state. The curatorial team has been working on identifying items that have been donated to us but that are not aligned with the spirit of the original collection. Each item at Filoli is subject to the rigorous standards laid out in our collection policy and approved by the board of directors. If our curatorial team and board collections committee determine an item does not align with collection policy it is offered in a public sale as is determined by law. Filoli takes the removal of items from collection very seriously and has implemented a healthy set of checks and balances to guarantee we are operating within the law and in standard museum ethics.”

I received this book and a lot of two different books, and it only came with one certificate of authenticity. If the buyer buys both, I will just include the certificate with them. If this ends up going in a separate lot from the other book, I will just provide a photocopy of the certificate of authenticity. If you need a genuine one, you can reach out to the directors of the museum and they will happily provide one.
