GEOGRAPHY MADE EASY:...American Universal Geography... Jedidiah Morse. Boston. 1794. Fourth edition. 432 pages. The attribution below is from the bookseller who wrote what he knew in the front blank page in pencil. I cannot verify his information as I do not have access to the reference books he used. EVANS 27351. Howes M842.
The first edition of this publication was published in 1784 and had 2 maps. The second edition was published in 1790 and had 8 maps. This, the fourth edition, has 9 maps. These were the first American school geographies and the first American book to describe the Western Territories.

Much of the value of this book lies in the Map of the United States. The map was drawn by Amos Doolittle, one of the earliest American map makers. Multiple folds, as issued. There are several tears in the map, almost all nicely repaired with archival tape. There is one 3" vertical tear at one of the bottom folds that has not been repaired. While this map is not rare, it is scarce. I was not able to find any auction or catalogue listings going back over 25 years.

This scarce volume deserves to be saved and a minimal restoration to repair and rebind it is warranted. I am in the process of disposing my collection so this is not a project for me.

I welcome questions from interested buyers who should ask any questions before making an offer.
