Up for sale we have this beautiful 1965 Ford Thunderbird Special Landau. The Special Landau was introduced in the spring of 1965 and differed from the regular Landau due to its unique combination of interior and exterior colors as well as differences in trim. The exterior is finished in exclusive special Emberglo metallic paint. The Special Landau interior is finished in parchment vinyl. The floor console is parchment colored, a departure from the normal interior two-tone configuration used on other Thunderbirds. The steering wheel on this model is also parchment instead of the more familiar simulated wood grain found on the standard Landau models. Also note the special Landau plates mounted on the door panels a the roof rear exterior quarter moldings had a nameplate mounted on them with a gold colored Thunderbird emblem and Special Landau engraved on it. The interior simulated wood grain was of burled walnut, a different pattern not used on the standard Landau models. Only 4500 Special Landau models were built in 1965. Mileage is not actual. Now THE GOOD: This car is a rust free Missouri car with only some surface rust on the lower front bumper sides. (See pictures). The rest of the chrome is very good. Over $6000 has been spent on work done in the last two years. This work includes radiator hoses, thermostat, new window gear, kit, new window switch cluster, carburetor accelerator pump, new master cylinder and brake booster, brand new  spare tire and rim. It has had one repaint in the original color. The body is very straight and the interior is an excellent condition. All gauges work and lights. It has an aftermarket radio but it doesn’t sound the best however it works. Both rear mufflers and tail pipes have been replaced as well. The tires are in good shape. However, I believe one tire has a broken belt or flat spot as the car has a wobble at low speeds. They are older and should be replaced. Now THE NOT SO GOOD: The gear selector is sloppy and you have to hold the gear selector lever up so it engages when you turn the key to start it. Sometimes if you put it in park and not swing the steering wheel out of the way, it will pop out of park. I was told when I purchased it that the heater core leaked and was disconnected. Being it is only driven in the warm months I did not feel it was all that important. The air conditioning does not work, but the compressor pulley spins freely and is not seized up. It probably can be converted to the new set up if you care to do so. The Front power windows work, however the rears do not. The headliner has a repaired tear in it and a small hole. See picture. It is fully usable as is. There are a few dents and dings on the top and some of the window trim pieces as shown in the pictures. I probably have forgotten something, so if you have questions feel free to ask. Overall this is a very nice car and a blast to drive. Custom premium cloth car cover included!
