On June 23, 1960 service to Cleveland, a new spur terminal was inaugurated on Air Mail Route 94 by Mohawk Airlines.

This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 94 flight from the Cleveland, Ohio Airport Mail Facility to Boston, Massachusetts (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 94E54f.

On April 12, 1972, the Civil Aeronautics Board approved the merger of Mohawk Airlines with Allegheny Airlines, with Allegheny Airlines (later renamed USAir and US Airways) as the surviving company. The takeover was completed by June 1, 1972.

US Airways was a major American airline that ceased to operate independently when the Federal Aviation Administration granted a single operating certificate for US Airways and American Airlines on April 8, 2015.
