A late 18th century Aesthetic Movement stoneware pottery piece in the form of a foo dog or grotesque toad with red glass eyes marked "Moore" and believe to be made by Bernard Moore (1850-1935). This unusual item is known as a spoon warmer. They were filled with hot water and brought to the table with serving spoons to help keep food warm when serving and eating.
Definitely a unique decorative accent for a shelf! Often these are made in solid glazed colors so it is very special to find one finished in this style. Color is a very deep olive green with gold accents and red glass eyes.
Dimensions:  7ʺW × 4.5ʺD × 4.75ʺH

We also happen to be selling a Bernard Moore "Allegory of Love" Comport in a separate listing.
