Antique Carved Cow Bone Tambour/Crochet Hook England * Circa 1890 This antique
crochet hook allows for the
removal of the hooks to change sizes.
The handle is
carved
of cow bone (bovine)*. The top unscrews and the compartment below is to hold extra steel
hooks. The brass tip screws down tightly to
secure the hook. It has three small steel hooks,
about the same as American steel sizes 7, 11 & 14. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage and the hook holding mechanism is in good working order. It measures 5 1/4" long with the hook in place. *This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and NOT from an endangered species or an ivory producing species.
