Early on in some of my pre 2000 buying sprees I had 3 separate antique shop owners sell me this same pattern in just about every colorway it was ever made...and then when eBay hit the internet I started finding this pattern almost exclusively in California...which was significant back in the early days of the internet because it was before all these fabrics started hitting auctions and then being sent to every part of the world...that changed things a bit for collectors like me who relied and wanted to know the history and story provenance of these fabrics. It is my estimation that this pattern was made for Art Deco hotels in Los Angeles as one of the antique shops owners who sold me about 30 pairs of draperies in this pattern said they came from an old hotel in LA. So while these panels I am selling are not from that lot...I do believe the origin is Los Angeles.

This auction is for ONE unused unwashed remnant of a prized mid century Art Deco favorite. A creamy deluxe highly wonderfully soft textured cotton barkcloth...check out the photos of the pure beauty that IS Art Deco barkcloth...there is no other texture like it in the world...sophisticated mid century...a extraordinary take on modernism that was sweeping america in the 30's and 40's...a clean crisp creamy white ground...sweet tropical coral pinks...lustful merlot purple...burgundy...dove gray...chartreuse yellow and lime...deepest darkest turquoise greens...shades of creamy and avocado limes...with a fantastical POP of Caribbean sea blue going through the foliage...signed "A Color Tested Fabric Best Obtainable Vat Dyes"...thick and nubby highly textured barkcloth...with a whole history of mid century that comes along with it...if you are a mid century kindred spirit...then you will be romanced and smitten with the goodness of this amazing treasure. Measures 48 inches wide x 58 inches long. A nice coveted piece in the same brand new condition you would have found circa 1938. Flawless. I also have some great remnants of this in a used pattern that are also great...you can find them in my shop!

I take returns...but who wants to take a return right? So I do my best to add lots of photos that depict the weight and texture and do so thoughtfully so you are getting the most virtual experience. Please only buy if you know you really want it...in other words...I'm here to have the best selling experience and I can't do that without your help. With that said...of course I will take a return...I'm just hoping more the pricing will WOW YA over wanting to return it :) Here is to a summer of fabulous Florida Finds. :)
