American Saffron, (Carthamus tinctorius), it is annual plant. Vegetable oil can be obtained from seeds. The plant contains aromatic and volatile compounds. It was used in food as a natural dye (yellow and red), carthamine and medicine. It's the cheap version of Crocus sativus.
