MAKER/BRAND: M.J. Berta Hummel Goebel Figurine
MATERIAL: Porcelain
AGE: Approximately 1958
SIZE: 4 inches
Nonsmoking, cat-friendly home.
- Charming girl in an apple tree welcoming Spring!
- This figurine belonged to my husband's grandmother, which dates it pre-1970s, probably earlier and closer to the 1958 introduction of the marking on the bottom. According to a Goebel site: The very large bee flying in the V remained until around 1956, when the bee was reduced in size and lowered into the V. It can be found incised, stamped in black, or stamped in blue, in that order, through its evolution.
- The bee on the bottom of this figurine is below the top of the V. Marked Western Germany below in black.
- Incised "M.J. Hummel" on the front.
- A bird was not used in smaller models such as this one.
- Very small fleabite on the top of her orange hood. Almost looks like a glazing misfire.
- Please see another vintage Hummel I listed of Hansel and Gretel - with original paper label on front.
